2006 St. Patrick's Day Concert
The second indoor concert this season by the Karl L. King Municipal Band of Fort Dodge was held on Sunday afternoon, March 19, at the Iowa Central Community College Auditorium.
This concert was the traditional Irish Concert, in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. Many familiar Irish songs were performed, including everyone’s favorite, McNamara’s Band, as arranged by former conductor Reginald R. Schive. Other Irish selections on the program were Strains from Erin as arranged by Lucien Cailliet, An Irish Rhapsody by Clare Grundman, The Emerald Isle by Dave Black, and the beautiful Irish ballad, Mother Machree, arranged for band by John Zdechlik.
Several march selections were performed, including International Favorites, and Bon Voyage by Karl L. King, Hands Across The Sea by John Philip Sousa, and The Irish Brigade by John W. Casto.
Another popular selection, in addition to McNamara’s Band, was Leroy Anderson’s immortal classic, The Irish Washerwoman.
