The April, 2008 Scholarship Concert
The third and final program in the series of three 2008 winter concerts by the Karl L. King Municipal Band of Fort Dodge was held on Sunday afternoon, April 13, in the Decker Auditorium on the campus of Iowa Central Community College. The College had chosen Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States for its cultural emphasis, so the program reflected that focus by offering music from a few of Russias finest composers.

These three musicians won monetary scholarships through their successful auditions. Marjorie Halverson, left, senior clarinetist at Storm Lake High School, won the $1000 scholarship. She plans to attend Warburg College and major in music with an emphasis in Music Education and Music Therapy. Travis Zinnel, freshman clarinetist at Iowa Central Community College, and Susie Dencklau, freshman baritone saxophonist at Iowa Central Community College, each won a $500 scholarship.

Susie, Travis and Marjorie were invited to perform a march with the Karl King Band.
