Dr. David Klee serves as the Assistant Conductor of the band.
Dr Klee conducted the band as they performed "Latina", a Latin American Dance by Dr. Frank Bencriscutto.
The King Band played the Spanish March "El Conquistador", composed by James L. Tarver.
The contemporary selection titled “Agua’s Whelm” describes musically a tragic event that occurred in 1541 in Central America, and was written by Cory McBride, McBride when he was only 16 years old. McBride graduated from Independence IA High School and the University of Northern Iowa, and is currently the Director of Bands at Oelwein, Iowa High School.
Benjamin Ostrem was selected as the winner of the $1,000 Scholarship. He will continue his studies in the field of music at Luther College. Benjamin's parents are Laura and Steve Ostrem.

After performing Sousa's march "The Pathfinder of Panama" the program concluded in the usual way with the playing of our National Anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner”.
The next performance by the band will be at the traditional Memorial Day ceremonies on Monday, May 30th. The summer series of concerts will again be held on eight Sunday evenings during June and July, beginning on June 12 through July 31, at the Karl L. King Band Shell in Oleson Park.
